Learning Crosses Workshops with Terry Herman
![]() How do you do a Front cross? When do you do a Blind cross? Why do a Rear cross instead? Once the dogs can do the obstacles, handlers have to learn how to direct them around a course as clearly and efficiently as possible. Three of the basic handling maneuvers for doing this are front crosses, blind crosses, and rear crosses. This summer, ODTC is offering three separate workshops to learn how to do the crosses correctly; when to do them; and where to do them, to give a dog the clearest possible direction. These workshops are aimed at the Novice handler. Dogs need to be able to do all obstacles in sequences. Preference will be given to students who graduated from the AG1 classes since Fall 2021. Students will have the opportunity to work on what was covered at the workshop during an evening of exercises with instructor Cindy Deubler the following week. Preference will be given to those who attended the workshop in working slots, followed by auditors. All workshops are limited to 8 dog/handler working teams. Auditors are unlimited. Exercise nights are limited to 10 dog/handler working teams. Auditing will not be offered. One dog per handler Registration for all six evenings opens: Wednesday, June 29 at 8 am for Contributing members Thursday, June 30 at 8 am for Members Friday, July 1 at 8 am for Non-members Online registration and payment are required.
