Introducing Scott Goldstein and his new program with Baltimore County Fire and Medical Training in pet CPR and first aid. The course teaches first aid and CPR techniques using authentic canine CPR manikins, to address emergencies that can occur with small and large dogs as well as cats. The class will train you to notice abnormalities and detect early warning signs in pets. You will learn essential pre-vet care and life saving techniques for those times when immediate action can make all the difference. There will be a handout which emphasizes the major points with a section for note-taking. A standard Stop the Bleed certificate will be issued.
Scott has 39 years of experience as a first responder. He is the Captain of the Pikesville Volunteer Fire Co, as well as an EMT, and certified CPR instructor/instructor evaluator with Baltimore County Fire and Medical Training, Over the years he has many occasions to deal with medical emergencies with dogs, including rescues from fires and performing CPR with a ventilation mask, and even caring for a dog who had been hit by a train. Scott has, personally, has owned dogs his entire life, and his family currently includes Bella, a shepherd lab mix, Lizzie, an American Foxhound, and Zues, a pit lab mix. As a first responder and dog owner, he has encountered many occasions of emergencies ranging from dog fights and the aftermath, dogs eating bad things to the simple treatment of ticks.
Class is limited to 12 slots.
Cost for Members: $60; Non-Members $70
Light snacks will be provided.
