Fitness and Conditioning for the Weekend Warrior
Young/Green Dog Handling Workshop
Saturday, December 14th

Bridget has been training and competing with dogs since her teens. For the past 20 years, she has been heavily involved in dog training, dog sports, and dog activities of all kinds. Agility has been her primary sport, and she has traveled all over the country competing and teaching. Currently she is owned and loved by border collies, an amazing little “sports mix”, a baby border-whippet, and Jetty, the pony. In the past, she has lived with lots of other breeds and types of dogs.
Bridget and her dogs do a little bit of everything: agility, K9 Nose Work, flyball, rally, disc dog, dock diving, tracking, drafting, barn hunt, FAST CAT, dryland mushing, and trick training. In the past, Bridget also has been involved in earthdog, sighthound lure coursing and racing, and even some field work. In 2019, Bridget and Grape, her little sports mix, were named to the AKC European Open Team USA and also the WAO Agility Team USA.

Now that outdoor exercise may be limited learn how to use a few pieces of inexpensive fitness equipment and some household props to create exercises just for your dog. Learn what exercises work what parts, and why they are important. Participants will see each exercise demonstrated and then have a chance to try it with their own dog.
**To get the most out of this workshop working participants should be comfortable with perch work (front feet on an object, back feet on an object, and all four feet on an object). It is also incredibly helpful if your dog is already comfortable being on wobbly things…wobble boards, balance discs, etc. A basic list of foundation skills, and how to teach them will be emailed to registered participants.
