Agility Dogs Wanted for this weekend’s AKC Judging Clinic Examination

This coming weekend, on June 22-24, Oriole Dog Training Club is hosting an AKC dog agility judging clinic and examination at our training building in Halethorpe, MD.
On the Saturday (3pm – 5pm) and Sunday (9am – 3pm) of this clinic, we will run a practice match for which we need dogs for the new judges to practice their skills on. Participation in this match is a good chance to get your dog on different equipment in a different location as well as a good way to give back to the sport. AKC regulation equipment will be used at this match. There is no cost for this match.
Although we have some dogs already signed up, we could sure use some more!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Requirements: Your dog must be able to perform all of the standard equipment indoors on artificial turf. The dog does not need to be AKC registered and does not have to be measured to participate.
How it Works: There is no cost for entering the match. You may specify the height of the jumps that you want to work the dog at. You will be asked to sign the usual disclaimer before participating. Although you may come at any point, it will work best if you sign up beforehand in 2 hour slots so that we have a good idea of how many dogs we will have available for the judge candidates. Timeslots will set out on late Saturday afternoon and in 2 hours timeslots on Sunday. You may be asked to run 3-4 times in your time slot under different judge trainees. We would ask you only not to train in the ring when you are actually being judged.
June 2-3 Nosework Workshops at Oriole
Entries are now open for two days of Nosework workshops presented by Jacy Kelley, CNWI, CO on June 2-3 at the Oriole Dog Training Club.
Program: Container Mysteries When: Saturday June 2, 2018 9:00am-5:00pm (registration 8:30)
This workshop will focus on container searches and the problems associated with container searches in trials. Topics covered include common missteps and their causes. We will explore training techniques that will help to strengthen your container searches. The searches will begin with simple searches and work up to
difficult distractions and random containers.
Program: Practical Hide Placement: Maximize Your Nose Work Training
When: Sunday June 3, 2018 9:00 am-5:00 pm (registration 8:30)
Maximize your practice searches by learning hide placement strategies from a pro!
What environmental factors should influence your hide placement during training? How well does your dog do when there is minimal air movement? How do you avoid confusing the beginner dog, and challenge the advanced search dog? Careful hide placement can help your dog learn and improve quickly, preparing him for new scent problems in trials and other events.
This workshop will help you to maximize search potential by learning about hide placement, environmental factors that influence the search, setting training goals and how to adjust them as the search progresses. The workshop will consist of a PowerPoint presentation, working portions, and video review.
For more information and an entry form, see our seminar information page
